My name is __________________, and with great eagerness and pleasure, I would like to apply for a Canadian visa, as it will allow me to pursue a post graduate program in pre-health sciences and healthcare management at the renowned, Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology, which is one of the best places to be studying healthcare at, in the country of Canada.
I am quite an optimistic individual, and I believe in being proactive and confident in the manner in which I go about conducting my daily work. The primary language or medium in which I have received my education up until, now, has been English. I secured a First Class in my secondary school examination, upon attaining a score of 64.5%, and my percentile rank stood at 70.92% at the secondary level. The school that I studied at, goes by the name of _______ which is located in Navsari, and the examinations that I sat for, took place under the aegis of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, in Gandhinagar. I have always been quite intrigued by the nature of the work performed by healthcare professionals and which in turn has provided me with the inspiration to take up post graduate studies in this field. Helping needy people in particular is what I always wanted to do, and this propelled me to pursue subjects such as Biology in the place of Mathematics, at the high school level. In this respect, I would like to point out that biology is a subject which is very close to my heart. The Janata Madhyamik Shala Kendram in the Navsari, Gujarat is the place where I studied for my high school degree, securing 48.66% in the final board examinations.
After graduating from school, I pursued by bachelor’s degree in the subject of medical technology from the Naranlala College for Professional and Applied Sciences which is also located in Navsari. The college falls under the aegis of the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, located in Surat, I graduated in the year of 2018, with a second class, my CGPA being valued at 5.45. As a bachelor’s student, I was subjected to both practical as well as theoretical learning in the domain of medical technology, and some of the many subjects that I studied at the bachelor’s level were health science, marine science, biology, chemistry, medical technology etc.
Apart from pursuing degree studies, I also took up an internship at, the Matushri Diagnostic Center, which is quite a well-known pathological lab, located in Navsari. I worked here as an intern between the 8th of November 2015 till the 8th of December 2015, a time when I attained sufficient knowledge as well as skills in laboratory work.
The Micro Clinical Laboratory in Navsari is a place where I have worked as a medical lab technician from the month of August 2016, right until now. Between the months of July and December 2019, I had to be on maternity leave and I rejoined the institution in January 2020, some of the primary duties that I had to perform while working here included maintaining a considerable degree of confidentiality regarding patient data and doing everything in my power to safeguard sensitive information or data relating to patient health and wellbeing. Treating and processing human clinical specimens such as urine, blood, and body fluids, performing mycology, cytology, virology and a number of other body tests, and observing the work of the pathologist in cutting samples related to histology, are some of the other duties that I performed for the period of time that I worked at the laboratory. Conducting microscopic examinations of the clinical samples of patients, performing blood tests for the purpose of blood transfusion, and performing tests that required the use of semi-automatic machines, are some of the other activities that I undertook during my tenure here. Furthermore, I must point out, that, there is a lot of competence that I gained, while working at the micro clinical laboratory in Navsari, in laboratory equipment such as dry chemical analyzers of an automated nature, automated clinical chemistry analyzers, semi-automated analyzers, clotting analyzers, ESR analyzers and so on and so forth. This was also the time when I gained knowledge and experience in handling of various types of hazardous chemicals, as well as infected clinical samples, by using personal protective equipment at the time of doing so.
All the experience, the inputs and the education that I have attained thus far, have made me realize my professional future lies in the domain of healthcare management in particular, and in the field of healthcare sciences in general. I got to know about the Northern College of Applied Sciences and Technology through the official website of the college and I was highly impressed by what I got to read and know about the institution. It is upon reading about the institution and its various activities that I was filled with the desire to apply for a post graduate study program here. My family has always been supportive of my goals and ambitions, and they gave me the approval necessary, to pursue my aspirations in this respect. I had to appear for the IELTS examination before I could apply for a program at the college, and upon giving this examination I managed to procure, a score of 6 in writing, a score of six in speaking and a score of 6.5 in reading. After obtaining these scores, I applied for the post graduate program in pre-health sciences and healthcare management as offered by the Northern College of Applied Sciences and Technology. I believe that Canada is the best place for me to be studying at given the high educational standards that prevail in this part of the world and the global recognition that Canadian educational institutions have attained over the year, because of the excellent practices that they adopt for dissemination of knowledge. I sincere believe that with the guidance and the help that is provided by the devoted and talented faculty at the college, I will be able to attain much knowledge and expertise in healthcare management and pursue a successful career in the field.
One of the key reasons why I would like to return to India upon completion of my studies in Canada lies in the fact that healthcare management is still an emerging subject in my country. While people are well versed with healthcare practices and the standards of healthcare in this part of the world are slowly advancing with every passing day, the subject of healthcare management is still something that is largely unknown and there are major changes that need to be introduced in this field for people in the country to be able, to benefit from the same, in much the same way as they are able, to do in the west. I feel that there is a lot that I am going to be able to offer by virtue of the skills that I attain while studying healthcare management in Canada. In India, especially after a pandemic like Covid 19 broke out, the hospitals have not been well positioned to handle patient inflows and while some hospitals have denied treatment and care there are others that have not been able to cater to the needs of the huge number of patients admitted here. There is a lot that needs to change with regard, to healthcare management in India therefore and I feel that with the degree and knowledge I acquire in Canada, I will be able to make useful contributions to the healthcare scenario in India.
The particular reason as to why it is that I have selected the Northern College of Applied Sciences and Technology for my studies lies in the fact, that this is a university which is ranked very well by the QC ranking system, and the range of subjects that are offered within the discipline of healthcare management is also quite exhaustive. By taking up a post graduate program in the domain of healthcare management I believe that I will be able to understand many important dimensions of healthcare management such as the extent to which essentials of chemistry, physics and biology are applied in the domain of healthcare, and also how mathematics is utilized in healthcare management. These are subjects or topics which are not ordinarily covered during the teaching of health sciences in the country of India and I therefore believe that I am going to benefit a lot by being a part of this program in Canada.
The knowledge that I attain via my degree program at the northern college will enhance the expertise that I have already gained from the secondary, higher secondary and undergraduate levels of study in healthcare management. The learning that I acquire here, will I believe, help me to develop specialist knowledge in the field of healthcare management and pre-health sciences, and which in turn will enable me to explore a wide range of career options when I return to India, given how rapidly the healthcare management sector is expanding, here.
I am sincerely grateful to you for the opportunity that you have granted me, to express my views, and feelings on the subject of healthcare management and I promise to do justice to the learning offered by the post graduate program in pre-health sciences and healthcare management at the Northern College of Applied Sciences and technology.
Yours sincerely,
