Describe a situation where leadership and teamwork were critical to the outcome of a project in which you were directly involved. What did you learn from the experience and how have you applied this knowledge to other situations in your life?
In my view, a good leader should be able to connect and cooperate and encourage people to work towards the goal. Working together with others, listening to the problems they face, and working with them to work towards a solution, builds a connection. Later, when faced with difficulties, they would reach out to their representatives to find ways to deal with the crisis.
As a Product Executive, in Bioceutics Inc. I was expected to have in-depth product knowledge of all the Bioceutics patent products. I was working with a team of 10 marketing executives under the supervision of the General Manager. There was always a feud between the Managers and the team members as we were continuously scrutinized by the highly educated profession, Doctors. I always looked up to my manager how he handled the situation and motivated us to further research about the products. Soon, I was able to reach my sales target allotted to me and was promoted as a Product Manager. It was only possible because I believed that sales being an individual goal can be reached by a collaborative approach with greater success and higher job satisfaction.
In my journey as a Product Manager, I had to make sure that each product I approve of had a unique selling point. I started training my team with different approaches to handle the sales hurdle. It encouraged me to see my ability more and made a 3.8% increase in sales.
There were certain projects where I felt that teamwork and leadership would not go hand in hand. Sometimes leadership may curb the creativeness of the team. If we let the team handle some situations by themselves help them to bring the creativeness in them. As a product executive, if I would have asked not to bring my creative side, I would have never been able to become the person I am today.
Negotiation was one of the skills I learned while started working as a Product Manager. It helped me to bring the best out of me. My market experience supported me know the different strategies to upgrade and revamp the existing products to make them stand out in the market. The experiences made me a good adviser for my juniors, they continuously came to me to understand the strategies I used as an executive to reach my target goal. The product responsibility made me responsible for every action I took for the company and myself. This was my job was something I was passionate about since __________. I gave my 100 percent just to prove to myself that there are no boundaries in the human world for learning and evolving into the person that we want to. There might be sometimes that I have failed myself but pulling myself was the only thing I knew to achieve what I am today. Teamwork is the essential criteria for getting successful in the corporate world. It is not just about working on something together; it is more important because it brings confidence in an individual. Communication is one of the most significant aspects of life, a person needs to be very influential while working in a corporate. Not everyone is as influential a leader as Former President Nelsen Mandela, but learning is the only way I can become half as influential as he was. Communication skills evolved me as a person also, it made me overcome my social anxiety. This will make me a better leader and a better person to understand the needs of the client and the employees at the same time. On the other hand, leadership is a very important life skill. It helps in developing and evolving it in a meaningful way. It strengthens human relationships as we tend to motivate and empower the other person. As a person with good leadership, it is easy to organize, plan, delegate, and assess. Marketing jobs are continuously changing and learning new strategies is the only way to keep the company and me going.
I never wanted to stop and keep on evolving as a person. This is the reason I wanted to peruse MBA from your prestigious college and learn more about managerial skills.
