Mam/Sir
My name is , I am _ years old and an Indian citizen by birth Passport No. – ). I am writing this letter in response to my acceptance at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Calgary, Canada, to the one year study program in Dental Assistant. The certification is a natural progression to my undergraduate education in Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS). My classes will commence on 06/09/2022 and conclude on30/06/2023. I request you to approve my study permit visa for the duration of my studies in Canada and allow me to timely join my batch mates. I am elucidating in this letter, my suitability to study in Canada in terms of past education, language & financial eligibility, and, the proposed course’s relevance to my vocational aspirations. I am positive that you will concur with my academic rationale and with the zeal of refreshing my academia; leveraging my extensive training as a Dentist. Family Background I grew up in a resourceful and nurturing environment, taken well care of by my lettered parents, who consistently encouraged me to progress holistically as a scholar; both in and out of the class room. In 2016, I got married to a wonderful person (Mr.___) and since, am experiencing an ideal marital bliss. We are a close knit family and I have a son who is now five years old.
Immediately after my marriage, I moved to Singapore, where my husband was posted at that time; working as a project manager with Thyssenkrupp Elevator. He joined the company in 2014 after completing his Master’ education at the National University of Singapore.
In 2018, he was entrusted to take care of important company projects in Bangkok, Thailand and we, along with our son are living in Bangkok till date.
I will be travelling alone to Canada for one year and meanwhile my husband and son will stay back in Thailand. My husband is an established professional there and a long serving permanent employee of TK Elevators. My son, too is studying in a reputed school in Thailand and will be continuing his studies there, while I am completing my skill training in Canada.
Educational Background.
I have studied in reputed English medium schools since kindergarten and am proficient with all forms of the language. I completed my Senior Secondary Schooling from Cluny Matriculation Senior Secondary School, (city name), India, in 2009. Being an organically curious student, I developed a good affinity towards STEM subjects since middle school, yet, I completed my senior years with an academic concentration on Biology. Post completing my schooling, I enrolled at the Sri RamaKrishna Dental College, city name, to pursue my medical education in Bachelors of Dental Science (BDS).
Throughout my undergraduate tenure, I worked diligently to effectively comprehend my coursework and training as a Dentist. I completed my bachelors program in 2015 and thereafter gained internship experience at the college hospital.
Why Pursue Dental Assistant Certification Program
As mentioned earlier in the letter, I got married in 2016 and took a conscious decision to support my husband’s career at that time while fulfilling my homely duties as a devout wife. I was blessed with a son in 2017. I concur that restarting my academic and career life now is the most opportune step ahead. I have studied the discipline of Dentistry through an expansive undergraduate syllabus and have trained as a Dentist fulfilling medical practices spanning clinical care and bet practices of Dentistry.
It is only after an exhaustive research that I have chosen to pursue the one year Dental Assistant Program. The course work will work as a critical refresher module for me while exposing me to the latest technology, materials and treatments under the purview of Dental Care.
The program offered at SAIT is based on experiential learning, which is critical to my desired learning outcomes.
Why study at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT)
Upon contentious evaluation of the choices available, I found the syllabus offered at SAIT as most suitable to my learning objectives. The one year certification program concentrates on the clinical Oral care and trains the participants to astutely fulfil concurrent roles of a Dental Assistant; leveraging skills in theory, practicum and latest technology. My curriculum at SAIT will cover the foundational clinical and preventive care for Oral Health and simultaneously teach about Restorative Dental Procedures, Dental Emergencies and Record Keeping, Oral Histogram and Histology and most importantly about operating the latest equipment for Dental Radiology.
SAIT ranks superlatively amongst the Canadian Vocational Colleges and my further research revealed that not only the lab infrastructure at the college is amongst the best in Canada but also that the SAIT Dental Assisting Program is globally recognised in the Medical Community and accredited by the Commission in Dental Accreditation of Canada.
I am earnestly motivated to upgrade my academia through the course and work as a Dental Health worker for a few years. The certification program at SAIT will allow me to gain crucial experience and education in this direction.
Why Study in Canada
I aspire to gain global perspectives through a vocational curriculum with a research-based pedagogy. Canada, for all the right reasons, is at the forefront of Dental Clinical Care through applied learning and strategic coursework. A certification a prestigious Canadian College will add significantly to my skill set, learning on the ground in a developed world setting while giving an essential edge to my employment prospects in my home country, India.
Canada is also amongst the top educational destinations in the world due to its civil society and for the safe and conducive learning ecosystem, it has facilitated for thousands of international students. I look forward with scholarly vehemence to learn and collaborate amid an intelligible mentor and peer community at the SAIT, Calgary campus while being committed to deliver success from the study program
Although similar courses are available in Singapore and India but they lack in terms of the applied scope of Dentistry and practical learning outcomes. The qualification will also enable me to gain internship exposure with Dental Hospitals in Canada, through which I will certainly gain a significant knowledge bank as a Dental Assistant.
Future Goals
After completing my certification, I aim to train as a Dental Assistant in Canada for one year and thereafter, return to my home country, India. As a family, we have planned to settle in India after two years and I will be using my acquired education and experience in Canada to work as an Assistant or a Dental Hygienist with reputable Dental Hospices and clinics in India. Post a few years of clinical training, I have strong inclination to specialise in Cosmetic Dentistry and Prosthodontics; therefore, I may opt to pursue an academic specialisation in the said domains of Dentistry.
I have no doubts that with the knowledge and skills gained in Canada, I will be able to extract a handsome return on my investment made in foreign education, within 3-4 years.
Financial Eligibility
I, along with my husband, have carefully reviewed the expenses needed for my education in Canada and can comfortably suffice for the same. I will be paying full fees of the certificate program in advance, before reaching Canada, out of which, I have paid the first semester fees of CAD 11,300 in advance at the SAIT. The remaining fees of CAD11.300, I will be paying in July 2022. To manage my stay and living expenses in Canada, I have procured a GIC Card from (Bank Name) and have deposited CAD 10,200 as its current balance. The GIC deposit will amply cover for my staying and miscellaneous expenses in Canada for one year.
I have a joint saving bank account with my husband, with current account balance of CAD 40,000. I will be using this money to fund my education in Canada. My Husband, who will be my primary sponsor, earns 2, 00,000 Baht (CAD 88,800) annually through his job as a Project Manager at the TK Elevators. He will be supplementing any and all monetary requirements (if needed) during my academic tenure at Canada.
