Reason for studying in Australia
Bhutan as an economy has laid serious focus on Tourism Industry in the past few years, making it the second largest revenue generating sector in the country, only second to Hydroelectric projects. However, academic groups and bodies in Bhutan offer only diploma courses in the domain. The Government of Bhutan has formed an institute for tourism and hospitality management in 2010, known as Royal Institute for Tourism and Hospitality (RITH) under the Tourism Council of Bhutan. The institute offers only diploma courses on hospitality and management services.
Post completing my Senior Secondary Schooling, I wanted to pursue a Bachelor’s program and therefore Australia gave me a brilliant opportunity to not only accrue a globally recognised academic degree but also enabled a learning experience in favoured subjects of Business Management.
Although, similar courses were offered in the neighbouring countries like India but through research and mentor consultation, Australia emerged as a certain first choice for me to pursue my higher education here.
Australia, for all the right reasons is a preferred educational destination for scholars from around the world. The pedagogical methods of your country focus on experiential learning through research and market ready models, which is vastly different from the education system in Bhutan or India. A Bachelor’s degree earned from the Holmes Institute, Australia will prepare me well for entrepreneurial success and simultaneously, positively impact the acceptance of my business ideas and ventures in my home country.
Future Goals
After completing my Bachelors, I have strong ambitions to pursue a reputable Master’s Degree with academic majors in Tourism and Hospitality. I am constantly preparing myself though my syllabus and market exposure to develop a wholesome research and business understanding in my chosen business domain. After completing my Masters, I want to work with well-known brands in Tourism and Hospitality sector for a few years and gain important work experience. I yearn to gain applied experience in Customer Experience, Facility Management, Tours and Excursion Planning, Ticketing and primarily in gaining know how of curating experiential travel packages.
The latter offers brilliant opportunities in my home country as Bhutan has tremendous untapped potential. I want t tread ahead in my academics learning profoundly about the sustainable tourism development and ensure that the commercial development does not harm the sacredness of Bhutan’s untouched ecology.
Eventually, I have preserved ambitions to start a business venture in Bhutan, focussing on imparting exemplary experiences to travel enthusiasts from all around the globe. My venture will focus on natural trails and rustic, localized experiences for the tourists so they can get a first hand feel of the happiest country in the world, Bhutan.
